Gayngs - Gaudy Side of Town
I heard this song in the car on the drive back from wine tasting in Solvang this weekend (which inevitably turned out more like a Vegas trip, but that’s another story). It was raining, we were driving through mountain clouds over cliffs with wineries on one side and the ocean on the other. And there was a DOUBLE RAINBOW to boot. Quite friggin’ amazing, to be honest. This turned out to be part of the ultimate rainy day roadtrip soundtrack.
If there aren’t ironic hipster babies being made to this song all over the world (or at least Brooklyn, Silverlake and maybe Portland…) well then, something is just wrong with the world.
The story behind this band is just too much for my brain to handle at the moment, but Time to Play B Sides does a pretty good job of explaining it. But a hint that Bon Iver is involved makes the whole baby making thing not as surprising. Anyway, listen on and feel free to get romantic with yourself.
